This Cookies Policy explains how Smart Edu Hub ("Smart Edu Hub", "we", "our", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit or use our website and platform (together, the "Services"). It sets out what these technologies are, why we use them, and how you can control them.
This policy forms part of, and should be read together with, our Privacy Policy.
In short
We use a small number of cookies that are necessary for you to sign in and stay signed in — these cannot be switched off without breaking the platform. Anything beyond that (preferences, analytics, marketing) is only used with your consent, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.
2.Why we use them
We use cookies to:
- keep you signed in and maintain your session as you move around the platform;
- protect your account and the platform against fraud, abuse and unauthorised access;
- remember your preferences, such as language and display settings;
- understand in aggregate how the Services are used so we can fix problems and improve them;
- where applicable and with your consent, measure the effectiveness of our marketing.
We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles of children, and we do not sell data collected through cookies.
3.Categories of cookies we use
| Category | What it does | If you block it |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessaryNo consent required | Sign-in and session management, keeping you authenticated as you move between pages, security and fraud prevention, load balancing, and remembering your cookie choices. | Cannot be switched off. Blocking them will prevent you from signing in or using the platform. |
| FunctionalConsent required | Remembering preferences such as your selected language, display settings and interface choices so you do not have to set them again. | Blocking them means the platform will not remember your preferences between visits. |
| AnalyticsConsent required | Understanding, in aggregate, which features are used and where people run into difficulty, so we can improve the platform. | Blocking them has no effect on how the platform works for you. |
| MarketingConsent required | Where used, measuring the effectiveness of our campaigns and limiting how often you see the same message. | Blocking them has no effect on how the platform works for you. |
4.How long cookies last
- Session cookies are temporary and are deleted when you close your browser. Most of our authentication cookies work this way.
- Persistent cookies remain on your device until they expire or you delete them. We use these to remember preferences and your cookie choices across visits.
We keep cookies no longer than necessary for the purpose they were set. Expiry periods vary by cookie and are visible in your browser's cookie settings.
5.Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by third parties acting on our behalf, for example hosting and content delivery providers, payment providers used at checkout, and analytics providers. These parties may set their own cookies when their component loads.
We do not control third-party cookies. Please review the privacy and cookie notices of the relevant provider for details of their practices and how to opt out.
6.Our mobile applications
The Smart Edu Hub mobile applications for iOS and Android do not use browser cookies. They use device storage to keep you signed in and to remember your settings, and mobile identifiers provided by your operating system for diagnostics and security.
You control these through your device settings, and you can clear them by signing out or removing the application. How we handle the underlying data is described in our Privacy Policy.
7.Managing your preferences
- On our website: use the cookie banner or preference controls presented to you to accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your cookies and reloading the site.
- In your browser: every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies through its settings, usually under "Privacy" or "Site settings". You can also block all cookies, though this will prevent you from signing in.
- Withdrawing consent: withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew it.
Blocking or deleting cookies may degrade your experience and prevent parts of the platform from working. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be declined while continuing to use an authenticated account.
8.Legal basis
- For strictly necessary cookies, we rely on our legitimate interest in operating a secure and functional platform, and on the necessity of those cookies to deliver a service you have requested.
- For functional, analytics and marketing cookies, we rely on your consent, which you may give or withdraw at any time.
We process this data in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act and other data protection legislation applicable to you.
9.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the technologies we use, the law, or our practices. Material changes will be posted on the Services and, where appropriate, notified to users. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
